Recognising Your Own Patterns

Very often, we move through life without truly realising what is running us. Certain patterns—ways of thinking, behaving, and relating—become so familiar that they feel natural. Yet at the same time, they leave us feeling drained, disconnected, or unfulfilled. That discomfort is not random; it is a signal that something is out of alignment.

There is often an underlying inner knowing that tells us it may be time to change something. However, because these patterns have been present for so long, we begin to identify with them and tell ourselves, “This is just who I am.” But is that really true? Or is there a new version of you emerging—one that is asking for healthier boundaries, clearer choices, and greater self-respect?

This “new you” is often the part that gently reminds you that it is time to choose yourself.

I speak openly about this because I have been there myself. What feels familiar often feels like identity, even when it no longer serves us. Yet we always have the power to choose something more empowering. Because we have free will, patterns can repeat for decades without being questioned—until the moment we decide differently.

When you choose differently, your life begins to shift. Over time, new choices become your new normal.

We are creators of habits, not prisoners of them.

Take time to recognise your patterns and honestly ask yourself whether they support you on a deeper, soul level. If they do not, you have the power to change them. It may not be easy, but it is necessary if you want to experience something more aligned, fulfilling, and alive.
