One of the hardest journeys of the soul is learning to put yourself first.
This has certainly been true for me.
For many years, I didn’t know how to do that. I believed that unconditional love and constant giving were the foundation of a loving life. This is what many of us were taught—in church, in school, and within our families: be kind, give your best, think of others first. I was told that I was lucky, that I had more than enough, and therefore should give it away. Over time, these messages became my dominant belief system.

And this is how I lived my life.
Eventually, life asked me to learn a different way. I had to learn to put myself first—to fill my own cup before pouring into others. This has been a long and challenging process, and I am still learning.
I had to learn to love myself first, especially when people close to me were giving me crumbs, not truly hearing or seeing me. Energetically, this made sense—because I wasn’t truly honoring myself either. On a vibrational level, my life reflected exactly what I believed: that I did not need more, so I did not receive more.
I didn’t ask for what I desired, because I didn’t know what my true desires were.
I didn’t go after better opportunities, because I had learned to play small.
This wasn’t a conscious choice.
It was subconscious.
Energetic.
So natural that it became a blind spot.
Until one day, my soul began calling me back to my truth.
You want more.
You want better.
Stop denying yourself.
Stop shrinking.
I also came to understand that this pattern was inherited—passed down through generations. I learned overgiving from my mother and grandmother. It became my second nature. And life mirrored it perfectly.
But then my soul began to scream.
I reached a point where I could no longer ignore what was happening—mentally, emotionally, energetically, and physically. My body was showing symptoms. It was asking for attention, for nourishment, for truth.
This has been one of my deepest lessons of 2025.
It has been challenging, confronting, and transformative. I am sharing this story for those who feel something similar stirring within them—because there is a higher purpose behind this experience.
